This interactive workshop will focus on the National Organization for Victims Assistance (NOVA) process as it relates to students affected by school and community tragedies. A hand-on role play, as well as discussions on how to handle teen suicide, drug related deaths, vehicular deaths, murders, medical related deaths, and staff member deaths will be included.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to name/explain/use:

  • How a school and community crisis truly affects students
  • How a campus/organization needs to handle certain types of crisis
  • Tools to handle a school tragedy
