This workshop will discuss the differing definitions of resiliency focusing on SAMHSA’s, “bouncing forward”. We will observe some useful videos to help us better understand what resiliency looks like and identify Rainbow Day’s 5 Pillars of Resiliencies. These 5 Pillars consist of 5 Major Messages which include, I AM, I CAN, I HAVE, I WILL, I BELIEVE. Through these Pillars we will identify ways to continue building resiliency in our youth and families. You will add to your facilitator tools in your existing toolbox as parents, teachers, counselors, and concerned community members to better guide the children and youth in your life.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to name/explain/use:

  • Believing in and Building “Resiliency” through five domains: Self-Awareness, Social Awareness & Competence, Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision Making, Sense of Purpose & Future
  • The primary skills/behaviors within each of these domains
  • Ideas on how they can implement programs and share information with parents, educators and community members on growing resilient children and youth
