Does your role as prevention professional take you into schools as a “classroom guest” who provides prevention education? Sometimes that is a disparaging role. This workshop includes an overview of classroom management techniques and strategies; key information gathered from certified classroom educators; diversionary discipline interventions that empower students and model problem solving; and ways to balance respect, motivation and discipline. The process will be a mix of information and informal practice.

Participants will be able to name/explain/use:

  • Key behaviors for facilitators
  • Youth’s behaviors are a symptom of something going on in their lives
  • The ACE Study and its effects on behavior
  • Principles to help de-escalate hot topics

Format:  PowerPoint, Facilitated Discussion, Interactive Activities, Videos

  • 1 to 1.5 hrs. (Conferences only)
  • 3 hr. Workshop
